Investing in Communities, Transforming Lives: Booth Child Development Center
The Booth Memorial Child Development Center serves 63 children, ages 0-5 in Oakland, California. Through the Child Care Facilities Fund program in Alameda, supported by First 5 Alameda/Every Child Counts, LIIF provided funding to renovate the center. The improvements not only made the space a better place to work and play but improved the health of children and staff and helped stabilize the center’s finances.
The funds from LIIF were used to replace the flooring, install new windows and renovate an outdoor patio into a classroom space. LIIF also supported the installation of a garden that the center now uses to grow healthy food.
