LIIF Driving Long-Term Sustainability of Child Care Small Businesses

The numbers speak volumes: LIIF conducted 16 in-home child care provider site visits/assessments in Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C. in just five days during June. Our goal? Long-term sustainability of for these small business owners. LIIF’s ECE Program Manager, Northeast Region Amy Shea (top photo, left) and ECE Senior Program Officer, Northeast Region Yarimar Gonzalez crisscrossed the Mid-Atlantic as part of our Family Child Care Small Business Accelerator program; our organization created its tailored curriculum and culturally responsive trainings based on the Business Administration Scale (BAS) Community of Practice. BAS is the first reliable instrument for measuring and improving the overall quality of professional practices in family child care settings. Being certified assessors in BAS, Amy and Yari’s expertise proved invaluable.

Next up: Each family child care facility receives a detailed report to strengthen providers’ business skills.
