The LIIF Early Care and Education (ECE) Team shared insights at this week’s BUILD25 convening of child care leaders in Los Angeles.
For example, our Senior Policy and Program Officer, ECE Samantha Peyton joined Dr. Wanzi Muruvi of the Center for the Study of Child Care Employment, UC Berkeley and Dr. Marisa Schlieber from the Erikson Institute (photo, left to right) on a session, “Strengthening Home-Based Child Care: Investing in Working Conditions and Infrastructure.” They explored study results on the status of the family child care workforce in California and Illinois, sharing strategies for promoting emotional, physical and financial well-being for this dedicated sector. Samantha highlighted LIIF’s work in California, San Francisco, Harris County, Texas (Greater Houston) and New York, all places where infrastructure investments are used as a tool to promote provider well-being while also building the regional supply of child care.
