Low Income Investment Fund Scaling Its New York City Family Child Care Support, Enters New Strategic Partnership with NYC’s Mayor’s Office of Child Care and Early Childhood Education
Goal to augment its culturally responsive provider assistance to complement existing city services

NEW YORK (April 16, 2024) — The Low Income Investment Fund (LIIF) and NYC’s Mayor’s Office of Child Care and Early Childhood Education (MOCCECE) have announced a strategic partnership to coordinate and streamline services to best support child care providers in the five boroughs. This collaborative relationship will advance MOCCECE’s mission to ensure that New York City families have access to equitable, high-quality and affordable early education and care.

“We are excited to strengthen our valued partnership with LIIF, as we recognize the organization’s 25-year history of supporting child care across the nation,” said Tovah Gottesman, Deputy Executive Director at MOCCECE. “Family Child C.A.R.E. NYC is the ideal complement to New York City’s existing services for providers, who are small-business owners serving as an integral part of both New York City’s economy and child care system.”

The partnership includes an already-successful service, launched last spring, now being directly accessible from the home page of the City’s own site. Family Child C.A.R.E. NYC is a free, comprehensive online portal that is supplemental to existing New York City online resources. The website serves as a first touchpoint for intake and to provide important announcements, resources and documents. Technical assistance comprises one-on-one mentoring, small group or individual coaching, information sharing, and equitable access to resources to meet self-directed goals around business operations and facilities improvements.

A collaborative of four child care partners – LIIF, All Our Kin, ParentChild+ and Ramapo For Children – developed Family Child C.A.R.E. NYC to coordinate solutions tailored to meet the specific needs of New York City providers. The collaborative provides intake/technical assistance and various other support to providers of home-based child care.

“Family Child C.A.R.E. NYC has quickly showcased impact, providing culturally responsive resources to Black, Latino, Asian American and other historically under-resourced child care providers,” said Tiffany Mobley, LIIF’s ECE National Director, Facilities Funds Management. “Our partnership with MOCCECE, All Our Kin, ParentChild+ and Ramapo For Children has been devised and implemented to ensure compliance with local laws and mandates, plus will lead to the scaling of our collaborative’s services – a value-add to the city’s existing resources.”

This contract with the City of New York represents yet another step forward for LIIF’s new, comprehensive early care and education (ECE) model, which includes facilities fund management, capacity building and advisory services.

This MOCCECE partnership officially launched April 16, 2024.
