Achievement First Providence Mayoral Academy
Achievement First Providence Mayoral Academy (AF-Providence) is a high-performing elementary charter school that operates in Providence, Rhode Island. AF-Providence is part of the Achievement First network, an experienced charter management organization that operates 30 schools dedicated to providing equal educational opportunity for all students.
In 2013, AF-Providence opened its doors to a class of 180 Kindergarten and first graders. Growing one grade level per year, the site will eventually incorporate a 5-8 grade middle school. LIIF provided a $3.5 million construction to mini-permanent loan to finance the construction and renovation of the AF Providence campus. The three-phased project upgrades the facility to fully support AF’s educational program and growth. Renovations include a new gymnasium, kitchen, cafeteria, social worker’s office and several green features. In 2015, the elementary school served 272 students in grades K-3, 85% of whom qualify for free and reduced-price lunch.
