Lighthouse for Children
First 5 Fresno (First 5) serves California’s young children and their families through a comprehensive system of education, health services, childcare and other crucial programs. LIIF provided First 5 with an $8 million allocation of NMTCs as part of a $16.2 million transaction to construct a new, 44,000-square-foot early learning and child education center in the highly distressed area of downtown Fresno, CA. The new facility, Lighthouse for Children, will provide multiple services, including an accredited child care center for children ages 0-5, office space for First 5 and a community learning center for families and professionals. Serving as a model demonstration site for high quality child care, the center will include an outdoor play space, community garden and training opportunities in health promotion, early learning and strong families. Central Valley NMTC Fund provided the additional NMTC allocation and JPMorgan Chase served as the tax credit investor.
