Low Income Investment Fund Welcomes Mindy Binderman as New Chief External Affairs Officer
Taking the helm of the organization’s External Affairs Team to scale business verticals
SAN FRANCISCO (Feb. 25, 2026) – Low Income Investment Fund (LIIF) has announced that Mindy Binderman, an accomplished nonprofit leader with extensive expertise in advocacy, fundraising and policy development, will become the organization’s Chief External Affairs Officer. In this executive role, Binderman will be charged with leading a team comprising resource development, policy, communications and strategy functions at one of the nation’s foremost community development financial institutions (CDFIs).
“LIIF’s work creating and preserving the supply of high-quality childcare and affordable housing is central to families’ health and economic mobility, and it is essential that a wider audience of public officials, policymakers and funders see that connection. In that light, Mindy’s professional track record and impact has been sterling, and we believe will elevate our work, and translate the work into policy solutions,” said Daniel Nissenbaum, CEO at LIIF. “On a personal level, Mindy espouses values that align with those of LIIF, while professionally she brings 25 years of proven expertise building movements, securing funding and advancing policy wins — exactly the leadership needed as we scale our impact nationwide.”
Binderman comes to LIIF from the Georgia Early Education Alliance for Ready Students (GEEARS), where she led that nonprofit’s efforts to inspire and provide leadership for a statewide movement on early learning and healthy development for children ages birth to five. She served as GEEARS’ lead advocate, fundraiser and spokesperson, forging strategic relationships with community partners. Through her leadership, GEEARS preserved and strengthened the Georgia Pre-K program, expanded access to quality child care and helped pass the state’s first paid parental leave law. Under her direction, GEEARS invested millions in child care facilities through its Promise All Atlanta Children Thrive (PAACT) initiative and distributed over 100,000 free children’s books through the Mayor’s Summer Reading Club.
Prior to GEEARS, Binderman served as the Advocacy Director of Voices for Georgia’s Children from 2007 to 2010. Additionally, she is a member of the Leadership Atlanta class of 2012; chaired the Governance Council of North Springs Charter High School from 2015 to 2017; is the current Chair of the Jewish Women’s Fund of Atlanta; and serves on the Georgia Children’s Cabinet, the Get Georgia Reading Cabinet and the Learn 4 Life Leadership Council. Recent accolades include being named one of “Georgia’s Most Influential Women” by the Atlanta Business Chronicle in 2024 and receipt of the National Council of Jewish Women’s “Sheroes Award” in 2022.
“I’m proud of the movement we built at GEEARS to strengthen Georgia’s child care ecosystem and early learning infrastructure,” said Mindy Binderman. “At LIIF, I’m energized by the opportunity to leverage that experience and scale impact nationally — advancing child care, affordable housing and community facilities in the communities that need it most.”
Binderman, who officially starts her new role on April 14, 2026, will be based in LIIF’s Atlanta regional office.
