LIIF Takes Part in "National Child Care Innovation Summit: Business in Action"

LIIF was honored to join child care leaders today in Washington, D.C. for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation ”National Child Care Innovation Summit: Business in Action.” LIIF CEO Daniel A. Nissenbaum offered insights on a panel, “Accessing Capital for Care Leaders: How to Build the Capital Stack.” Fellow panelists included: First Children’s Finance President and CEO Heidi Hagel Braid, and EPIC President and CEO Nicole Riehl.

Three key takeaways from LIIF Senior Vice President, National ECE Angie Garling, who was also at the convening:

  • We have to hold the ambition to ensure we build and resource the same supports for growing the early care and education (ECE) supply as have been built for housing.
  • We must focus on the spectrum of ECE: Home-based child care as well as centers.
  • We must engage the business community as champions in the ECE supply-building efforts that are vital in our communities, especially those experiencing a huge increase in demand as a result of employment growth.

We must focus on the spectrum of ECE: Home-based child care as well as centers.
