New Settlement Community Campus
Settlement Housing Fund (SHF) is a 40-year-old organization that has developed over 8,700 apartments that are home to more than 25,000 low- and middle-income residents. SHF is using the NMTC financing provided by LIIF and its partners to develop a 24,000-square-foot community center in the Mt. Eden section of the Bronx, an area where over 40% of residents live below the poverty line. The new center will be located in a building that will also house a new K-12 public school. The center will include an indoor swimming pool, multipurpose rooms, dance studios, a cooking classroom, an educational green roof terrace and gallery space. An affiliate of SHF will run educational and recreational activities, such as after-school arts and recreation programming for 1,100 students and thousands of community members in the new facility. The center is being developed with the NYC School Construction Authority.
