A new report from Grantmakers in Health and Arabella Advisors explores recent approaches and actors that are changing the landscape of health philanthropy. Community development financial institutions have emerged as nontraditional actors in health philanthropy and are pioneering new approaches to health investment. Among the new approaches profiled is LIIF’s Bay Area Transit-Oriented Affordable Housing (TOAH) Fund, which is collaborative of community nonprofits, advocacy organizations, and philanthropic funders that provides financing for the development of affordable housing and other vital community services near transit lines throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
