Grants for Green Facilities

LIIF’s approach to encouraging green development and reducing carbon emissions in distressed neighborhoods recognizes that to building owners and occupants must have access to self-sustaining, scalable financing solutions. In addition to loan capital, LIIF provides limited grant capital for green projects that serve low income communities. Read below for our products providing grants to support greener facilities.

Green Grant Products

Bay Area Multifamily Fund

The Energy Upgrade California Bay Area Multifamily Fund (BAM Fund) provides up-front capital and technical assistance to help multifamily affordable housing owners retrofit their properties. Through the BAM Fund, building owners receive free audits to determine the optimal green retrofits for their facility. Based on the audit findings, owners have access to affordable loans to pay for energy efficiency upgrades and use savings from the retrofits to make repayments.

California Preschool Energy Efficiency Program

The California Preschool Energy Efficiency Program (CPEEP) helps center-based child care and preschool facilities in the Southern California Edison and Pacific Gas & Electric service areas be healthier, greener and save money on energy bills: all for free.

Green Opportunity Fund

The Green Opportunity (GO) Fund supports energy efficiency retrofits and installations for community facilities, such as charter schools, child care centers, health care clinics and neighborhood centers, in the Los Angeles area. GO Fund participants receive free audits to determine the optimal green retrofits for their facility. Once the appropriate retrofits are identified, LIIF structures an affordable financing solution to fund the up-front costs of greening the borrower’s facility.
