LA Metro Steps Up on Climate Change & Equity

LIIF’s Director of Transit-Oriented Development Craig Adelman recently contributed to LA Thrives All in LA blog to discuss LA Metro’s recent motion to ensure its new transit infrastructure initiatives benefit low-income residents and communities. The recently approved motion has its origins in a 2013 report prepared for Metro by LIIF, Enterprise Community Partners and the Center for Transit-Oriented Development. The report, Incentives to Encourage Equitable Development in Los Angeles County Transit Oriented Districts, makes the case for equitable transit-oriented development as a critical strategy to address climate change and the growing population of Los Angeles’ core transit riders, who are predominantly comprised of low income households.
