NEW YORK CHILD CARE SEED FUND EDUCATION AND TRAINING
The New York Child Care Seed Fund (Seed Fund) begins its support of child care facilities development projects in New York City with education. The Seed Fund helps child care providers become knowledgeable participants in the facility development process through trainings and workshops.
WORKSHOPS
The Seed Fund offers periodic trainings to promote the development of high-quality child care facilities. The Seed Fund has trained more than 200 child care providers and community developers through an array of workshops that focus on the legal, physical, and financial aspects of child care center development. In 2007- 2008, LIIF will partner with the Association for Neighborhood Housing and Development to offer an intensive training on the nuts and bolts of child care facilities co-location with affordable housing.

- Assess the true demand for child care in the community
- Evaluate the organization's readiness
- Create a business plan
- Put together a development team
- Secure a site
- Understand construction and development issues
- Understand legal issues
- Evaluate the organization's financial capacity (capital structure)
- Obtain financing for facilities projects
