CHILD CARE CENTERS
The San Francisco Child Care Facilities Fund makes child care facilities-related grants available to child care centers serving low income children within the City of San Francisco. Applications for all of these grants are accepted and reviewed throughout the year. (For information on family child care grants, please go to the Family Child Care Grants page.)
GRANTS FOR CENTER-BASED FACILITIES
Pre-Development Grants
The Pre-Development grant supports the planning and development of viable, well designed child care facilities and sites. Planning and pre-development costs including feasibility studies, business plan development, permits, architectural services and related costs; and consultant(s) to assist with physical development / licensing of facility. Nonprofit organizations that are planning to or currently serve children 0-5--a minimum of 25 percent of which are from low income households. Grants up to $20,000 per facility are awarded.

Renovation and Repair Grants
The Renovation and Repair Grant Program preserves the supply of quality, licensed child care provided by nonprofit child care centers and to increase the accessibility of center-based care to children and families with special needs. Grants of up to $100,000 are available per facility.

Quality Improvement Grants
The Quality Improvement Grant Program supports child care centers that have been assessed using the Early Childhood (ECERS) or Infant/Toddler (ITERS) Environmental Rating Scales. The Grant Program awards funds for materials and equipment, facility improvements and other quality improvement projects designed to address low-scoring items on the center's quality assessment. The award is for $3,000 per classroom.

Capital New Development Grants
The Capital New Development grant supports the planning and development of viable, well-designed child care facilities and sites. Planning and pre-development costs; building purchases; construction costs, renovation costs, or equipment purchases that increase or maintain the number of child care slots; consultant(s) to assist with the physical development / licensing of the facility; equipment purchases; quality improvements on a case-by-case basis. Nonprofit organizations that are planning to or currently serve children 0-5. Grants up to $200,000 per facility are available.

Move-In Grants
This is one-time funding intended to assist with the initial costs of equipping and furnishing brand new preschool classrooms which increase enrollment in preparation for licensing and, ultimately, expanding access to the PFA program.
