ABCD FUND

CAPITAL

The Fund is the financing component of the ABCD Initiative.  The Fund offers developers of child care facilities in California a variety of loans and planning grants. Planning grants are available for early-stage project readiness activities and cover expenses such as: site feasibility analysis, market studies, financial analysis and other third-party work to determine project feasibility. Applications are accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis. Repayable Planning Grants are provided through the Affordable Buildings For Children's Development (ABCD) Initiative.

TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE

The Fund provides child care operators with technical assistance which will prepare them to access capital and help evaluate their project, development and financial readiness. This technical assistance helps borrowers seek and secure necessary funds to undertake a facility development project. Assistance includes referrals to additional financial sources and connections to other local facilities development resources and tools.  For pre-financing technical assistance contact Jon Dempsey, Senior Program Officer, ABCD Fund.

The Fund also promotes leveraging other private as well as public sources of capital by supporting fellow lending institutions with investing in child care facilities. We engage lenders in many ways; with deal-specific underwriting and loan servicing consultation, loan participation, child care financing training and networking opportunities.
