TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE (TA)

LIIF offers one-on-one technical assistance, group trainings and workshops to its borrowers and other community development organizations. These services help expand the knowledge and capacity of individuals and organizations serving low income communities across the nation. Much of LIIF’s technical assistance is tailored to specific projects. For instance, this extra assistance helps borrowers to identify project areas of concern or risk, to understand project funding costs and financial statements, and to utilize project capital in the most efficient way. In return, more families, organizations and individuals have better services and greater options for affordable housing opportunities. As one borrower stated, “Prior to this project, I had never had direct responsibility for a capital project and therefore had never been involved in putting together a finance package. Without LIIF’s support, I would have never been able to understand the complexities and scope of the project’s capital issues.  I learned the language of financing and the process for putting together a finance package. In short, LIIF made a very complicated process an easy one, making sure that I understood each step towards the project’s completion. I don’t think I could have done it without LIIF’s support!”

Going forward, LIIF will continue to grow its technical assistance activities. This work ultimately ensures that projects move ahead, are implemented successfully, and that borrowers and the community are completely satisfied.

CHILD CARE TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE (TA)

Both providers and community developers need significant technical assistance to undertake child care facilities projects, from planning through financing, design and construction. To this end, LIIF also offers program-specific one-on-one technical assistance, group trainings and workshops to its grantees, borrowers and other community development organizations throughout California and New York City.
