Repayable Planning Grants
Planning grants are available for early-stage project readiness activities and cover expenses such as: site feasibility analysis, market studies, financial analysis and other third-party work to determine project feasibility. Applications are accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis. Repayable Planning Grants are provided through the Affordable Buildings For Children's Development (ABCD) Initiative. ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA
Facility Grants
The Facility Grant Program supports planning, pre-development, construction and other facilities and equipment costs for the start-up of a new center-based child care program, expansion or maintenance of an existing program, or preservation of a program that is at risk of losing existing slots. Eligible uses include but are not limited to feasibility studies, business plan development, permits, architectural services and related costs, equipment purchases and physical renovation.
Quality Improvement Grants
The Quality Improvement Grant Program is intended to support child care programs that are participants in the Every Child Counts First 5 Alameda County Quality Improvement Initiative program. The Grant Program awards funds for child development materials and equipment, minor facility improvements or repairs, and other quality improvement projects designed to address areas identified in the child care program's Quality Improvement Plan.
SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA (FAMILY CHILD CARE)
Expansion Grants for Family Child Care
The Expansion Grant supports licensed family child care providers seeking to expand from a small family child care business (serving 6-8 children) to a large one (serving 12-14). Funds can be used for facility improvements, construction and renovation associated with licensing and fire code requirements for a large family child care facility and the purchase of materials and equipment.
Quality Improvement Grants for Family Child Care
The Quality Improvement Grant Program supports child care providers who have been assessed using Family Day Care Rating Scale (FDCRS) and need to address low-scoring items on their quality assessment. The Grant Program awards funds for materials and equipment, facility improvements or renovations and other quality improvement projects.
Renovation and Repair Grants for Family Child Care
The Renovation and Repair Grant Program supports child care providers whose licenses may be in jeopardy due to health and safety emergencies or those that need to increase accessibility for children and families with special needs. The grant covers one-time costs associated with health, safety and accessibility improvements.
SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA (CHILD CARE CENTERS)
Pre-Development Grants for Child Care Centers
The Pre-Development Grant supports the planning and development of viable, well designed child care facilities and sites. Planning and pre-development costs including feasibility studies, business plan development, permits, architectural services and related costs; and consultant(s) to assist with physical development / licensing of facilities.
Renovation and Repair Grants for Child Care Centers
The Renovation and Repair Grant Program preserves the supply of quality, licensed child care provided by non-profit child care centers and to increase the accessibility of center-based care to children and families with special needs.
Quality Improvement Grants for Child Care Centers
The Quality Improvement Grant Program supports child care centers that have been assessed using the Early Childhood (ECERS) or Infant/Toddler (ITERS) Environmental Rating Scales. The Grant Program awards funds for materials and equipment, facility improvements and other quality improvement projects designed to address low-scoring items on the center's quality assessment.
Capital New Development Grants for Child Care Centers
Grants up to $200,000 per facility are available. The Capital New Development grant supports the planning and development of viable, well-designed child care facilities and sites. Grants are available for planning and pre-development costs, building purchases, construction costs, renovation costs, or equipment purchases that increase or maintain the number of child care slots, consultant(s) to assist with the physical development / licensing of the facility, equipment purchases, and quality improvements on a case-by-case basis.
Move-In Grants
This is one-time funding intended to assist with the initial costs of equipping and furnishing brand new preschool classrooms which increase enrollment in preparation for licensing and, ultimately, expanding access to the PFA program.
